If you have requested a G.657.A2 quotation recently, the answer is probably yes: prices in 2026 are generally higher and less predictable than they were in much of 2025. But there is no single valid “G.657.A2 market price.” Quotes vary by fiber source, order length, documentation, delivery date and whether you are buying bare fiber or a finished cable.

The short answer: treat G.657.A2 as a supply-sensitive item in 2026, confirm the exact specification and keep quotation validity and delivery timing in writing.

Why G.657.A2 is receiving more attention

G.657.A2 is a bend-insensitive single-mode fiber. The current ITU-T G.657 recommendation describes A2 fiber as appropriate for a minimum design radius of 7.5 mm. Category A fibers are also compliant with G.652.D.

That does not mean every cable containing G.657.A2 can be bent to 7.5 mm. The completed cable has its own construction and minimum bend radius, so the cable datasheet and installation instructions still take priority.

Is the G.657.A2 fiber price still rising?

The safest answer is that the market remains elevated and quote-dependent.

A June 2026 public company filing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange described a broader optical-fiber upcycle and used mainstream G.652.D as an example. It reported a move from roughly RMB 20 per core-kilometre in the second quarter of 2025 to RMB 70–90 by its latest practicable date in 2026. This does not establish the price of G.657.A2, but it is credible evidence that the underlying fiber market changed sharply.

Published G.657.A2 prices online vary too widely to use as a universal benchmark. Before comparing two offers, check whether they describe the same product:

How much does raw fiber affect the finished cable price?

In a high-fiber-count cable, fiber can have a noticeable effect on total cost. In a one- or two-fiber FTTH drop cable, the jacket, strength members, production setup, printing, packing and order quantity also matter. A change in bare-fiber prices therefore does not produce the same percentage change for every finished cable.

Buyers should compare the finished specification and delivered project cost, not multiply an online bare-fiber number by cable length.

  • fiber category and preferred source, if specified;
  • fiber count and cable construction;

  • required test documents;
